Tahiti Beach itself is easier to reach by boat. On the way to Tahiti Beach, by road, is another settled area called White Sound that also incorporates an impressive hotel, bar and restaurant. Sea Spray Resort and Marina also on White Sound has extensive services and the excellent Boathouse Restaurant If you are in the village; the beaches, restaurants, grocery stores and other services are within walking distance. Lubber's Quarters Cay
Lubbers Quarters lies protected from the ocean swells in the Abaco Sound. Located between Marsh Harbor and Elbow Cay, approximately 3 miles south of Hopetown, it is 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide. The island offers secluded beaches, clear paths for walking or jogging, and lots of peace and quiet. Lubbers is relatively noncommercial but electricity and phone service have recently become available. Most of the homes there have full electric power and are equipped with toasters, microwaves, hairdryers, TV's, VCR's and many have air conditioning. There is one restaurant/bar on the island, but more restaurants and shops are just a few minutes away by boat in either Hope Town or Marsh Harbour. Nearby Tilloo Cut offers easy access to the ocean. A boat is necessary - if you don't get one included with your accommodations, you'll probably want to rent one in Marsh Harbour. Lubbers makes a great getaway destination -- a home base that's conveniently located for island-hopping, with privacy and serenity that you'll enjoy returning to at the end of the day.
Man-O-War Cay
Man-O-War Cay has traditionally been the boat-building capital of Abaco, and is still home to Albury Brothers Boat Builders. Albury's Ferry, which services Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay, Hope Town, Great Guana Cay and other locations, is also based on Man-O-War. Several unique shops are found on Man-O-War, such as the Sail Shop, offering canvas duffle bags, hats, jackets, and other items sewn on the premises, and Joe's Studio with hand-crafted wooden models, chairs, and other items.
Little Harbor
A secluded and tranquil, picturesque community with protected anchorage and an interesting deserted lighthouse on the northeast side.
A beautiful sandy beach runs around the harbour which usually holds quite an interesting array of boats.
North Beach has an incredible coral reef to explore and rock cliffs form caves on he western side of the harbour. The fishing is excellent and the bight is an ideal area for bonefishing. Porpoise and sea turtles swim in the harbour and wild orchids grow freely. |
